The demolition industry has undergone a radical change in methodology in operational processes over the last 20 years or so. This change has mirrored the changing designs and materials used to construct the buildings now being demolished and must inevitably keep changing to ensure a safe and efficient demolition process. Demolition companies must remain up to date in their processes.

Dorton Demolition and Excavation Ltd has endeavoured to keep ahead of these changes by developing innovative methodology, carrying out bespoke training and the procurement of new plant and equipment that embraces the most up to date technology.

Its modern fleet of wholly-owned plant and vehicles, which is maintained to the highest standards by in house staff, is renewed regularly and sourced from the world's leading suppliers.

There are also the non plant operatives, and although hand and manual operations have been greatly reduced over the years, the Dorton Group has a range of lightweight bespoke equipment for use that greatly reduces the effects of hand/arm vibration, noise and heavy lifting.

Demolition is a serious business and not without potential for hazards. The Dorton Group is proactive when it comes to the assessment of risk, whether from human or commercial factors.

The safety of the workforce is a prime concern as well as looking after the interests of clients. In mitigation against any detraction from this policy, the Dorton Group has aligned with recognised trade and safety organisations, winning annual safety awards and is a registered company with ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 systems in place. The Group is a member of the National Federation of Demolition Contractors (NFDC) and is committed to having its sites audited by the federation at least once a year.

The Group's portfolio of projects includes: heavy industrial facilities; marine environments; power plants; mineral extraction plants; commercial and industrial buildings; city/town centre structures; facade retention; domestic properties; bridges; Railtrack and many more.
